ERKIĆ: SPECIAL RIGHTS FOR CHILDREN WHO NEED SUPPORT THE MOST

ZVORNIK, AUGUST 26 /SRNA/ – Not all children are born into the same life circumstances, therefore a responsible policy toward children cannot turn a blind eye to the differences in which they grow up, Republika Srpska National Assembly member Sandra Erkić said.

ZVORNIK, AUGUST 26 /SRNA/ – Not all children are born into the same life circumstances, therefore a responsible policy toward children cannot turn a blind eye to the differences in which they grow up, Republika Srpska National Assembly member Sandra Erkić said.

On the occasion of the Srpska Loves You campaign, through which the Office of Republika Srpska President presents the rights and measures that currently form the family support system in Republika Srpska, Erkić told SRNA that there are children who need greater support from the community, which is why Republika Srpska has provided special protection through its child welfare system for vulnerable categories of children. For these children, child allowance is granted regardless of the family’s financial circumstances and regardless of their birth order. "For them, child allowance this year amounts to BAM 208 per month. Under the conditions prescribed by law, this right covers children under guardianship, children who require assistance and care from another person, children whose parent is receiving financial assistance, children under the age of three who require enhanced care, as well as children with certain disabilities, illnesses and developmental difficulties," she said. Erkić stressed that behind each of these rights there is a family. "A mother who takes her child to therapy every day. A father who is trying to provide everything the child needs. A guardian who has taken responsibility for a child. A family whose everyday life is often far more demanding than we can see from the outside. They do not need our pity. They need a Republic that understands their everyday reality and a system that will not leave them alone," Erkić stressed. Therefore, she says, children's rights must not be viewed solely through the amounts allocated in the budget. "A society is judged by how willing it is to protect those who need protection the most. Every child deserves an opportunity. Every child deserves security. Every child must know that they belong to a community that will not forget them. That is Srpska we are building and want to continue building in the future. Srpska Loves You. Love is rights," Erkić concluded.
