STILL NO MEDICAL REPORTS FROM HAGUE ON GENERAL'S CONDITION, DEADLINE EXTENDED FOR ANOTHER 24 HOURS
BELGRADE, AUGUST 26 /SRNA/ - The family of General Ratko Mladić has not yet received the reports from all the doctors engaged in The Hague regarding his health condition, and the deadline for submitting one of the independent medical reports has been extended for another 24 hours, Mladić's son Darko told SRNA.
"We received a report from one independent expert and the detention unit in The Hague, but we haven't received one from another expert, who was granted an extension of another 24 hours," Darko stated. He expects this final report to arrive tomorrow at the earliest, though it is more likely to happen on Friday, August 28. On Monday, August 24, General Mladić's family once again submitted a request for his release from The Hague detention hospital for treatment in Serbia due to his very severe health condition, following a report by a Serbian doctor who last week identified omissions amounting to negligent medical treatment. Based on the Serbian doctor's report, the family filed a new request, and the President of the Hague Mechanism, Judge Gatti Santana, ordered the local detention facility and independent doctors to respond to the Serbian doctor's report within 24 hours. The family has repeatedly submitted requests for General Mladić to be released for treatment in Serbia, but these have been rejected, most recently on August 20.
