UNITED STATES, IF POSSIBLE, SHOULD MONITOR ELECTORAL PROCESS IN BiH

ISTOČNO SARAJEVO, AUGUST 27 /SRNA/ - Republika Srpska Prime Minister Savo Minić said that the focus of today's meeting with US Representative Claudia Tenney was his request that the United States, if possible, be involved in monitoring the electoral process.

"It is important to us that the elections are conducted fairly and properly, and I asked, if possible, for the United States to monitor the process so that it proceeds in the best possible order," Minić told reporters after the meeting. He said he had a constructive discussion with Tenney, with the focus on the elections, electoral technologies, voting procedures and the integrity of the process. He assessed that voters would have to wait four to five hours to cast their ballots, and also pointed to the fact that there are 49,000 ballots from abroad that are expected to arrive without any possibility of transparency. "I don't want to say control; Republika Srpska does not want to control anything. It simply wants the identification of those who have voted to be carried out transparently," Minić added. He also pointed out that training had not yet been conducted for members of polling station committees, let alone for citizens, on how to vote. "I believe this was a very useful discussion. Of course, we also talked about projects that we are discussing with certain US companies, particularly in the energy sector," Minić said.
