MINIĆ: SERIES OF ACTIVITIES AIMED AT SUPPORTING FAMILIES, INCREASED MATERNITY ALLOWANCE - THE MOST IMPORTANT
BANJA LUKA, AUGUST 28 /SRNA/ – Republika Srpska Prime Minister Savo Minić says he is proud that the doubling of the maternity allowance has directly improved the quality of life for nearly 4,000 families in Republika Srpska.
As part of the Srpska Loves You campaign, through which the Republika Srpska President Office is presenting the rights and measures that today form the family support system in Republika Srpska, Minić told SRNA that the Government has undertaken series of activities aimed at providing direct support to families, with the recent increase in the maternity allowance as one of the most significant measures. "Since June this year, this benefit has been increased by 84 percent, from BAM 406 to BAM 746. This is the largest increase in this benefit since it was introduced. Although this represents a significant financial earmarking, requiring an additional BAM 8 million by the end of the year, I am deeply convinced that this is not an expense, nor simply another budget item, but an investment in the future of Republika Srpska," Minić stressed. According to him, all unemployed puerperae are entitled to this benefit for one year, while mothers who have a third child or twins receive the benefit for one and a half years. "In addition, we are continuing to provide strong support to larger families, convinced that mothers who have decided to take this courageous step deserve special attention from society. For this reason, benefits for unemployed mothers with four or more children have been increased to BAM 800, andwe will work to further improve their position," Minić said. He recalled that Republika Srpska introduced this benefit in 2023 and that, in this respect, it is unique in the region, as no neighbouring country has this type of incentive for multi-member families.
