WITKOFF: SLIM CHANCES FOR PEACEFUL RESOLUTION WITHOUT DIALOGUE WITH RUSSIA

WASHINGTON, SEPTEMBER 7 /SRNA/ – US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff assessed that the chances for a peaceful resolution to the Ukraine conflict are slim without dialogue with Russia.

Speaking at a joint news conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv, Witkoff said that the United States supports a peaceful resolution to the conflict. “We are seeking a diplomatic solution to this conflict, not a military settlement. That is what President Donald Trump has always sought,” Witkoff said in response to a question about whether Russian President Vladimir Putin was ready for a trilateral summit with Zelenskyy and Trump. Witkoff said that this was the purpose of his visit to Kyiv, together with US envoy Jared Kushner. He added that, through this approach, Trump had helped bring an end to at least nine conflicts around the world and that it was possible that even more conflicts could be resolved in the same manner. US negotiators had previously met with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin. According to Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov, who spoke to the press, the Russian leader emphasized the need to eliminate all the underlying causes of the Ukraine conflict.
