SNSD CLUB: SRPSKA WILL NOT SUSPEND TIES WITH SERBIA BECAUSE THEY BOTHER SOMEONE IN SARAJEVO
SARAJEVO, SEPTEMBER 10 /SRNA/ — The SNSD club in the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly has strongly rejected an initiative by several MPs to suspend the special and parallel relations between Republika Srpska and Serbia, stressing that it will neither sever nor reduce its ties with Serbia simply because they displease some politicians in Sarajevo.
"This is yet another pointless attempt by Sarajevo politicians, with the help of foreign actors to restrict the constitutional rights of Republika Srpska and rewrite the Dayton Peace Accords," SRNA was told at the club. They reminded that the Constitution of BiH explicitly allows establishment of Special Parallel Relations between entities and neighboring states. "Therefore, they are now asking foreigners to suspend something that is expressly permitted by the Constitution of BiH. If they truly care about the Constitution and Dayton, they should start respecting them first," the club stressed. The SNSD club said Republika Srpska would further develop and strengthen its relations with Serbia. "Serbia is a partner of Republika Srpska, and that right cannot be taken away by any political initiative from Sarajevo or by any pressure from foreign actors," the SNSD representatives said. They added that Republika Srpska would protect its rights and that SNSD would consistently defend them. Fourteen MPs from the Federation of BiH in the House of Representatives sent an initiative to more than 800 addresses across Europe, the United States and the United Kingdom, calling for an urgent review and temporary suspension of the Agreement on the Establishment of Special Parallel Relations between Serbia and Republika Srpska, claiming the agreement is being used to undermine the sovereignty and political independence of BiH and to negate the rulings of international courts.
