CVIJANOVIĆ: SERBIAN UNITY DAY HIGHLIGHTS IMPORTANCE OF RALLYING AROUND COMMON INTERESTS

BANJA LUKA, SEPTEMBER 14 /SRNA/ - Serb member of the BiH Presidency Željka Cvijanović congratulated the Serbian people on the Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and the National Flag, stressing that this important holiday brings Serbs together and highlights the importance of freedom and rallying around common interests.

"I congratulate you on this day that brings us together, demonstrates our pride, and speaks to the importance of our national flag and the freedom in which we live," Cvijanović said in her message to Republika Srpska, Serbia, and all Serbs, wherever they may live. She said that at times like these, we should remember all those who gave freedom to the Serbian people, making great sacrifices and giving their lives or parts of their bodies for what present generations enjoy, as well as for those yet to come. "We want them to enjoy that freedom as well and never cease to respect what are the greatest ideals of our people," Cvijanović stressed in a video posted on social media. Cvijanović stressed that unity is a key word and always a prerequisite for success. "Unity is a prerequisite for stability, peace, solidarity and everything we need to accomplish together," Cvijanović said. She expressed confidence that citizens deeply respect the Serbian values embodied in the Serbian flag, the tricolour. "The values embodied in unity should keep us together in difficult times, but also when we celebrate great, beautiful and wonderful holidays and all other occasions," Cvijanović said. The Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and the National Flag is a public holiday observed on September 15 in Serbia and Republika Srpska, symbolically established on the anniversary of the breakthrough of the Salonika Front. It was established in 2020 to strengthen the unity of the Serbian people in Serbia and Republika Srpska, and to promote the national flag.
