SRPSKA'S OFFICE FOR SEARCHING FOR MISSING PERSONS SHOUL D BE ESTABLISHED

BANJA LUKA, SEPTEMBER 24 /SRNA/ - Members of the families of fallen and missing Republika Srpska soldiers and civilians said in Banjaluka today that it is necessary to establish an office in Republika Srpska for searching for missing persons, as the BiH Missing Persons Institute has identified only 88 Serb victims since its establishment.

Isidora Graorac, President of the Republika Srpska Organisation of Families of Fallen and Missing Soldiers and Civilians, stressed that the issue of those missing from Srpska must be resolved. "We are searching for 1,608 missing persons. Of this number, 975 are civilians, including 351 women and 10 children," Graorac told reporters after a roundtable discussion on the legal framework for exercising the rights of fallen and missing soldiers and civilians. Biljana Vasić-Dakić, a family member of fallen and missing Republika Srpska soldiers and civilians, said that two of her brothers were killed in the war; one was identified, and the other was never found. "He went missing in Vozuća in 1995, after surrendering along with 64 soldiers. Their grave was relocated and, unfortunately, we never received any further information about where to look for him," Vasić-Dakić said.
