TULEKOVIĆ: MOBILE APP AVAILABLE TO PROVIDE BETTER INSIGHT INTO MEMORIAL AND ENABLE INDEPENDENT EXPLORATION
KOZARSKA DUBICA, NOVEMBER 5 /SRNA/ - A mobile application that allows visitors to learn more about the memorial complex at the Donja Gradina Memorial Area through audio and video content is now available, the Memorial Area director, Tanja Tuleković, said.
Tuleković told SRNA that the application was designed to improve the presentation of the memorial area, make historical and educational content more accessible, and enable visitors to independently explore and learn about one of the largest execution sites within the Jasenovac concentration camp system. She emphasized that the digital guide brings together audio and video content that helps visitors gain a better understanding of the historical facts surrounding the suffering at Donja Gradina, adding that modern technology is intended to complement, not replace, direct expert guidance and history lessons conducted by the Memorial Area's curators. "We intend to make use of the opportunities offered by digital technology, but what we particularly emphasise during visits to Donja Gradina is, first and foremost, the history lessons delivered by our curators," Tuleković stressed. According to her, one of the possibilities offered by the application is the creation of additional educational content through workshops that the Memorial Area has been organising for elementary and secondary school students for many years. This will enable young people to take a more active role in learning about the history of Donja Gradina, while also adapting educational content to modern ways of accessing information and learning. The Donja Gradina Memorial mobile application is available on Google Play in Serbian, English and Romani, with plans to add several more world languages in the coming period. By introducing the digital guide, the Donja Gradina Memorial Area aims to make historical facts and educational content more accessible to the wider public, particularly younger generations, and to use modern technology to help preserve the culture of remembrance and historical memory.
