SERBS STILL WAITING FOR PERPETRATORS OF CRIMES IN PODRINJE AND BIRAČ TO BE PROSECUTED

BANJA LUKA, JUNE 26 /SRNA/ –Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik stated that the Serb side is still seeking and waiting for those responsible for crimes against Serbs in the Podrinje and Birač regions to be prosecuted, while no Serbs are being sought in connection with the events in Srebrenica.

"That is a dramatic difference between the political perception of this society and the possibility of building a future life," Dodik said at a press conference in Banja Luka following a reception for members of the Organising Committee for marking the 33rd anniversary of the suffering of Serbs in central Podrinje and Birač. He emphasized that both Serb and Bosniak families should be allowed to commemorate their suffering on July 5 and 11 as days of mourning. "I call on the Bosniak elite to ensure that the two events we commemorate in July pass peacefully, without new tensions. We’ve said each other about it," Dodik added. He announced that next week a public competition will be announced for the conceptual design of a central memorial for the Serbs killed in Podrinje and Birač, which is planned to be built in Bratunac.
