KOVAČEVIĆ: BRUSSELS LECTURES US ON RULE OF LAW, WHILE DEMANDING THAT UNELECTED FOREIGNER SCHMIDT GOVERN IN BiH

BANJA LUKA, SEPTEMBER 22 /SRNA/ - Radovan Kovačević, a Serb member of the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, said that the Brussels administration constantly lectures Republika Srpska on the rule of law while the unelected foreigner Christian Schmidt governs in BiH.
"I hear that Marta Kos said today in Sarajevo that the main problem is secessionism of Republika Srpska. Yet, I think that the main problem is the hypocrisy of the Brussels administration which constantly lecture us on the rule of law, while at the same time expecting us to accept that, in BiH alone, the rule of law means that an unelected foreigner, contrary to this country's Constitution, can impose and amend laws in a way that political representatives of a people and citizens elected in free and democratic elections are persecuted based on these laws, simply for respecting the Constitution of their country," said Kovačević. He says he does not know how such a thing could be accepted, and asks whether there is anyone in Europe or the world who would accept something like that. According to him, it is nothing but humiliation, a message from the Brussels administration that we are less valuable than anyone else in Europe, and Serbs and Republika Srpska will not accept it. "Or, we would accept it if they could show us any EU country where what they are trying to impose on us is allowed. Or, if there is a single EU country where something like this was done while it was a candidate for EU membership. Or is this meant only for BiH? Or, specifically, only for the Serbs and Republika Srpska - for the purpose of persecuting elected Serb representatives and leaders," Kovačević told RTRS. He reiterated that Republika Srpska will certainly not accept it. "I hear there is talk that we were allegedly invited to hear an address by Marta Kos at a joint session of both Houses. I checked, and the Parliamentary Assembly has not made any decision on this," Kovačević said. He added that the Joint Collegium of both Houses of the Parliamentary Assembly has not held any session on this matter. He asked, “Where else in the world can you just go to another country and convene a parliamentary session to speak whenever you feel like it?" “You are supposed to propose or request it, and then wait for the host’s response. After that, the host either says, ‘Yes, we would be glad,’ or ‘No, we do not allow you to speak.’ It seems that only in BiH can someone behave this way, claiming that the rule of law is legal violence and legal aggression against Serbs and Republika Srpska, even against BiH, and convene sessions of its institutions whenever it suits them. And how? By coming to give shameful lectures about some alleged rule of law while at the same time demanding that we accept legal violence and our own humiliation,” Kovačević emphasized. He reminded that the SNSD and the entire ruling coalition from Republika Srpska will not attend “that circus and shame.” “I can also say that the majority Serb caucus in the House of Peoples will not attend. If some agree to such humiliation, we certainly do not, because we represent Republika Srpska, the Serb people. We represent all citizens of Republika Srpska, and they are not willing to accept any humiliation. Srpska will prevail,” Kovačević said.
