KOVAČEVIĆ: BILL FOR THE CRISIS SHOULD BE GIVEN TO ELECTION LOSERS

SARAJEVO, JULY 16 /SRNA/ – The delegate in the Serb Caucus of the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, Radovan Kovačević, stated today that the bill for the crisis in BiH should be delivered to those who, as election losers, want to take positions intended for the winners of the elections.

Kovačević noted that in recent months, the dismissal of SNSD staff in the Parliamentary Assembly has been a key topic, but it all boils down to the fact that those who initiated these dismissals have no calculation as to how to implement them. “The SNSD is the party that won the elections in Republika Srpska and, together with its partners, represents an irreplaceable force when it comes to Srpska, because that is what its citizens and the Serb constituent people in BiH decided,” Kovačević told reporters. He repeated his earlier question to parliamentary colleagues: has anyone, anywhere in the world, in any parliamentary democracy, seen a majority that does not include a quorum for holding sessions? “I am telling you, that does not exist. Those who have the quorum, as the Constitution stipulates, must be part of the parliamentary majority,” Kovačević emphasized. According to him, it is another matter that some others thought it was a good idea, a year and a half before the new elections, seeing from the results of local elections and all polls that they are nowhere to be found in the Federation of BiH, to paralyse BiH and embark on this kind of adventure. “I think this adventure will end badly only for their political parties and their parties’ results,” Kovačević assessed. Speaking about Elmedin Konaković, whom he called the key promoter of the bulldozer that will clear out SNSD, Kovačević said SNSD has no intention of being his lifeline in this situation. “He wanted too much, started too much,” Kovačević concluded. Regarding the hopes of those who initiated the dismissal of SNSD staff in the House of Peoples and the Council of Ministers that something will change when Kemal Ademović takes over the chairmanship of this House, Kovačević asked what exactly will change. “Everywhere in the world, the people elect the government in elections, but here someone wants to install power despite those results,” said Kovačević, adding that this does not concern SNSD because the party has not started it. He reminded that SNSD believed BiH was very close to getting a date for opening EU accession negotiations and added that if more had been done on the European path, the second or third cluster could have already been opened. “They should be given the bill for all this. We have tried, in a turbulent political atmosphere, as much as possible, to ensure a certain political stability and, despite opposing interests, to be key in contributing to achieving consensus, compromise, and making progress,” Kovačević emphasized. He concluded that after BiH obtained candidate status and the decision to open negotiations, someone decided to stop it all.
