STANKOVIĆ: PROBLEM OF PETROVO CITIZENS SHOULD BE RESOLVED THROUGH AGREEMENT BETWEEN REPUBLIKA SRPSKA AND FBiH GOVERNMENTS

BIJELJINA, OCTOBER 14 /SRNA/ – The issue of establishing a real estate cadastre in the municipality of Petrovo on Ozren should be elevated to a higher level so that a full registry can be achieved through an agreement between the governments of Republika Srpska and the Federation of BiH /FBiH/ and an exchange of land records, Dragan Stanković, director of the Republic Administration for Geodetic and Property-Legal Affairs, told SRNA.

Stanković stressed that this problem has existed for a long time, that double records are effectively being kept, and that local residents cannot fully exercise their property rights regarding mortgages, which hinders business development. "In legal transactions, we are presented with land records from the FBiH and asked to recognize them in Republika Srpska, which is naturally not feasible. The local and functional authority belongs to the Republic Administration for Geodetic and Property-Legal Affairs, and only our records and the data maintained here can exist within the local unit," Stanković said regarding the Petrovo issue, noting that the municipality's land books are held in the FBiH municipality of Gračanica. He added that the Doboj Regional Unit, specifically the regional office covering the Ozren-Petrovo Selo area, is responsible for the territory. Stanković noted that this year, as well as last year, he held contacts and meetings, including with the Speaker of the National Assembly Nenad Stavandić and former Prime Minister Radovan Višković, to raise this issue, as many residents from the area approach the Republic Administration daily to resolve matters crucial to their lives.
