KOVAČEVIĆ: BOSNIAKS REFUSE AGREEMENT, EXPECT OTHERS TO IMPOSE IT

SARAJEVO, JULY 16 /SRNA/ – The Serb delegate in the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, Radovan Kovačević, stated today that SNSD has constantly offered a platform for dialogue, but that it is being rejected by others, primarily the Bosniaks, because they expect someone else to impose a solution that suits them.

Kovačević told reporters that this is not a path towards a happy future but rather an uncertain one. Speaking about the popularity of SNSD, he said that public opinion polls clearly show that the popularity of this party has seriously increased and that it is now being said that it will achieve one of its historically best election results. “Our position is very simple. After the situation with the Court and Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, which silenced those who used to say that there is no negotiating with fugitives – because they no longer exist – we believe the situation has slightly relaxed again, and BiH has once more received some impulses suggesting that there is a chance for something better to happen and to move forward,” Kovačević emphasized. According to him, if Christian Schmidt, as he has done many times before, wants to ruin all that, it will negate everything that could act as something positive in BiH. Responding to a question on whether SNSD has an agreement with the international community, Kovačević said that the international community is an undefined term and that it can freely be said to be fragmented. “With most of those fragments, we have very good communication. We even have better understanding now with those with whom we did not always see eye to eye in the past, which was abused by people in Sarajevo. Now, we understand each other much better, and it seems to me that the winds of the future are blowing in that direction,” Kovačević concluded.
