CVIJANOVIĆ: SRPSKA WILL EMERGE EVEN STRONGER TO DEFEND ITS DETERMINATION TO LIVE IN FREEDOM

BANJA LUKA, AUGUST 10 /SRNA/ - The Serb member of the BiH Presidency, Željka Cvijanović, emphasized that Christian Schmidt imposed his frustration on BiH and brought the entire country into a major crisis, but stressed that it is important that Republika Srpska will undoubtedly emerge from this even stronger to stand behind the legitimate rights of its legitimately elected representatives and to defend both its will and its determination to live in freedom.

Cvijanović highlighted the importance of discussing the protection of Republika Srpska’s institutions, as these are very delicate matters caused by Christian Schmidt, which have led the entire country into great uncertainty and legal insecurity. “What is unacceptable is that you are targeting a democratically elected president who stands behind the will of the people, and the will of the people always resides behind the one who is the elected president of the Republic, and our domestic institutions must express their stance on this,” Cvijanović told reporters in Teslić. She added that she has always had full trust in the institutions of Republika Srpska, especially in the National Assembly, which represents the will of the people. “I believe we will get through this crisis, which was artificially created by an individual, a foreigner who, according to the Dayton Agreement, had no right to impose any laws on us, to change them, to make any decisions, nor to sanction certain political parties or remove an individual,” Cvijanović said. She emphasized that these are unacceptable actions in a normal democratic society, but that BiH is living under a protectorate and is not protected in any way, which is why it has reached a bad and critical point. "I believe in the institutions of Republika Srpska, I believe in the rightful response of the people because what we are doing, we do with a mandate that came from the people; that mandate did not come from any external address, nor an unelected foreigner," she added. Cvijanović pointed out as particularly problematic the fact that in BiH, there is a judiciary that acts based on the will of an unelected individual, rather than according to what is written in the Constitution of its country. She emphasized that Republika Srpska has always shown its democratic face and has no problem when it comes to other peoples and religions, but it must be understood that defending the will of the people requires the opinion of the people. Cvijanović believes that the first step is the one announced by the National Assembly of Republika Srpska - that through legitimately elected representatives of the people, this significant situation is discussed, but also that the people have the right, in accordance with democratic principles and the interests of Republika Srpska, to express their views on all of this. "I want us to firmly stand behind what is the real right, the genuine right, not a rigged one. We want to firmly stand behind the principles of democracy, not a twisted, upside-down democracy," Cvijanović said. She pointed out that the people in BiH are being forced to live a pretended democratic life, to participate in pretended democratic processes. According to her, as long as there is someone who is not recognized by the Constitution as a legislator but acts as one, it means that we live in a great legal uncertainty.
