VULIĆ: KONAKOVIĆ MAKES UNFOUNDED ACCUSATIONS OF FASCISM AND RACISM AGAINST PRESIDENT OF SRPSKA

SARAJEVO, AUGUST 10 /SRNA/ - The Head of the SNSD Caucus in the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, Sanja Vulić, told SRNA that the statement by the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Council of Ministers, Elmedin Konaković, accusing the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, of fascism and racism is not based on facts, but rather creates a false narrative.

Vulić pointed out that during his appearance on RTRS, Dodik clearly said: “Now it will seem that I am a racist, but I am not.” She stated that, from the context of Dodik’s sentence, it is clear that at the moment he was speaking, he was aware of possible misinterpretations, but also that he was not uttering those words with the intent to offend. Vulić explained that calling someone a black person does not automatically mean racism, but rather that it is a descriptive term referring to skin color, not a derogatory label. “Racism implies discrimination, humiliation, or hatred toward a certain race, which in this case simply does not exist. Milorad Dodik does not hate anyone, unlike Konaković,” Vulić emphasized. Vulić said that political attempts to present every descriptive statement as hate speech only trivialize the fight against real racism. “If we declare everything to be racism, then the term loses its weight and credibility,” Vulić stated. She said that false accusations of fascism and racism do not lead to reconciliation, but only deepen divisions. “If we want a serious political dialogue, we must distinguish facts from labels,” Vulić said.
