CONDEMNATION OF DESECRATION OF ORTHODOX CEMETERY

SARAJEVO, SEPTEMBER 18 /SRNA/ – The U.S. Embassy in BiH has condemned the desecration of the Orthodox cemetery in Pečuj near Zenica, stressing that such acts undermine reconciliation and security.

“We strongly condemn every act of vandalism and intolerance,” they told SRNA from the Embassy. The Embassy stated that such acts hinder the stability and progress of BiH, emphasizing that mutual respect and tolerance are key to building a peaceful and prosperous future. On September 11, sixty tombstones were destroyed at the Orthodox cemetery in the village of Pečuj, while attacks on Serb returnees, their property, and their sacred sites in the Federation of BiH have become increasingly frequent.
