MEMORANDUM ON TESTIMONY REGARDING SUFFERING OF SERBS SIGNED
BANJA LUKA, OCTOBER 17 /SRNA/ – The Director of the Memorial Centre of Republika Srpska Denis Bojić and the President of the Amputees Organisation of Srpska UDAS Željko Volaš signed a Memorandum of Cooperation today in Banja Luka, which concerns the collection and presentation of testimonies about the suffering of Serbs during the past war.
Bojić told the press that the Memorial Centre, through testimonies about the suffering of the Serb people in the past war, is pursuing a global mission to present the truth about the suffering of Serbs in the territory of the former Yugoslavia. "Through the digital database being developed by the Memorial Centre, I am confident it will become one of the strongest arguments about the suffering of the Serb people, as all testimonies will be translated into several foreign languages. People in the Serbian Diaspora will have the opportunity to engage in well-informed discussions about this suffering," Bojić explained. He added that the Memorial Centre already holds the largest database of audio-visual testimonies about the suffering of Serbs, stressing that it will become publicly available at the beginning of next year. Bojić thanked representatives of UDAS for their support, emphasizing that the database will include a special category for individuals who lost limbs or were injured by landmines. Volaš emphasized that UDAS will support the Memorial Centre in gathering as many testimonies as possible, including those from mine victims and individuals dealing with war trauma. The Head of the Association of Konjic People in Republika Srpska Zoran Pologoš, who attended the signing, stated that the Association has for many years worked on documenting publications, books, and films about crimes committed against Serbs in the Konjic area during the war. "Thanks to the project by the Government of Republika Srpska, implemented by the Memorial Centre, the whole world will learn that not only Bosniaks suffered during the past war, but that Serbs also endured great suffering," Pologoš emphasized.
