SERBS AGAIN HARASSED WHILE RETURNING FROM YULE LOG CUTTING, FORCED TO REMOVE T-SHIRTS

PRIŠTINA, JANUARY 6 /SRNA/ – A group of Serbs from Dobrotin, who were returning from the traditional cutting of the yule log /badnjak/, were harassed today by the so-called Kosovo police at the entrance to Gračanica, where officers forced them to remove T-shirts bearing the message “Come, my son, make the sign of the cross and say ‘Christ is Born’,” said one of those targeted, Goran Gudžić.

Gudžić stated that Albanian police officers from the Gračanica station first removed and confiscated their T-shirts with religious motifs, and later returned them. He added that they were detained for about half an hour and ordered to take off their shirts. “About half an hour later, they returned our documents and let us go home,” Gudžić told “Kosovo Online”. He emphasized that there was nothing offensive that could have provoked the police, describing their actions as a provocation on Christmas Eve. “There were no offensive symbols. The only reason was that the shirt said ‘Christ is Born’ and had an image of the Temple of Saint Sava,” Gudžić said. “Kim” radio reported that several individuals stated today that they had been stopped by police for displaying Serbian flags while returning from the yule log cutting. According to this media outlet, some local residents were sanctioned, according to unofficial information.
