GENERAL KRSTIĆ INDICTED BY BiH COURT ON ORTHODOX CHRISTMAS
SARAJEVO, JANUARY 7 /SRNA/ – Today, on Orthodox Christmas, the Court of BiH confirmed the indictment against Republika Srpska Army General Radislav Krstić /77/, who, as commander of the Second Romanija Motorized Brigade, is accused of attacking the Bosniak-inhabited village of Novoseoci in Sokolac.
The Prosecutor's Office of BiH filed the indictment against General Krstić on December 29 of last year, charging him with an alleged war crime. Dragiša Tuševljak, president of the Veterans' Organization of Istočno Novo Sarajevo, told SRNA at the time that the Prosecutor's Office of BiH's indictment against General Krstić confirmed that a campaign against the Serb people continued. "Serb generals, who have already, unfortunately, been convicted outside of justice and law and who endure harsh treatment in international prisons, are victims of the BiH Prosecutor's Office, which indiscriminately brings charges against them, while numerous serious crimes against Serbs in BiH remain unprosecuted," Tuševljak said. He added that double standards in BiH's judicial system are clearly still in effect. Božica Živković-Rajilić, president of the Association of Women War Victims of Republika Srpska, said the indictment against General Radislav Krstić for the alleged war crime in Novoseoci is politically motivated and has nothing to do with law or justice. The indictment concerns events that took place from September 21 to 22, 1992, in the Ivan Polje area. General Krstić was transferred to Estonia in April, where he continues to serve a 35-year prison sentence imposed by the Hague Tribunal. He was arrested on December 2, 1998, and transferred to the Hague Tribunal the following day. General Krstić has repeatedly requested release, claiming he has served two-thirds of his sentence.
