EXHIBITION "ATTENTION! FILMING IN PROGRESS" - THE STORY OF GIDRA
BANJA LUKA, MAY 23 /SRNA/ - The exhibition “Attention! Filming in Progress” was opened on Saturday evening at the Banski Dvor Cultural Center in Banja Luka, as part of “Night of Museums,” dedicated to the life and work of the great Yugoslav and Serbian actor Dragomir Bojanić Gidra /1933–1993/.
The exhibition, authored by historian Slavko Stepanović, is the result of cooperation between the Archive of Serbia and the Archive of Republika Srpska. It is based on the artistic legacy of Gidra, who was born in Kragujevac, marking 70 years since the beginning of his acting career. The Director of the Archive of Republika Srpska, Bojan Stojnić, told SRNA that Dragomir Bojanić Gidra was an actor of strong presence, unique charm, and energy who marked an entire era of Serbian and Yugoslav film, television, and theatre. “Gidra was an actor who did not act. In a certain way, he lived his roles,” Stojnić said. He reminded that Gidra played more than 100 roles in films and television series, and that his career was marked by the film series “Lude godine”, also known as “Žikina dinastija”, with the role of Žika Pavlović considered a masterpiece of acting. "Under the pseudonym Anthony Ghidra /snake/, he also filmed around sixty Westerns and action movies in Italy during the 1960s, for which he received awards," Stojnić said. Earlier, a rich program was organized at the Museum of Republika Srpska on the occasion of “Night of Museums.” The manager for organization and promotion and coordinator of “Night of Museums,” Tamara Lukač, told SRNA that this year “Night of Museums” was marked by 37,000 museums in 150 countries. She emphasized that a workshop for the youngest visitors, inspired by the Middle Ages, was also organized at the Museum of Republika Srpska, as well as a “Museum Treasure Hunt,” where teams of different generations could search for mysterious objects and were rewarded for their efforts. “In cooperation with the ‘Order of the White Eagle’ association, an interactive museum was organized where visitors could try on knights’ equipment, and a staged performance was also presented by this association, including a knights’ battle,” Lukač said, adding that a concert by the City Tamburitza Orchestra was also held.
