CONFERENCE "BUILDING THE REGION" OPENS A NEW ERA OF INVESTMENTS
TREBINJE, MAY 24 /SRNA/ - One of the central topics of the regional infrastructure and construction conference “Building the Region,” to be held on June 18–19 in Trebinje, will be focused on the construction of energy facilities and strategic investments in the Western Balkans.
This is one of the most significant gatherings dedicated to infrastructure development, the construction sector, and energy in the region, bringing together experts, investors, and companies from the construction and energy industries. Organizers emphasize that the goal of the conference is for Trebinje, as a major construction hub, to become a meeting place for the economy, investors, and experts who will contribute to the region’s future development through the exchange of knowledge and experience. The Minister of Energy and Mining of Republika Srpska, Petar Đokić, previously highlighted the importance of this conference, at which the most significant projects will be presented. He pointed out that the construction of energy infrastructure facilities is becoming a strategic priority across the region, as the growing energy demand requires an increasing number of facilities, from hydropower plants, solar and wind farms, to gas interconnections and transmission lines. “This is a huge investment potential, and such projects require proper preparation and planning, financing, and a thorough assessment of all potential risks,” Đokić said. “Integral Inženjering” from Laktaši, one of the leading construction companies in the Western Balkans, sees the conference in Trebinje as an opportunity to improve and strengthen the domestic economy. Ljubiša Pilipović from “Integral Inženjering” said that the conference should be focused on strengthening domestic companies and the domestic economy. “Only conclusions that are directed toward that goal make sense, and in this way, we strengthen the domestic economy and elevate Republika Srpska. There is still a lot to be done and built in our country,” Pilipović emphasized. “Elektroprivreda Republike Srpske” /Electric Power Company of Republika Srpska/ expects the conference to give momentum to strengthening domestic capacities and to their presentation. Acting Director General of “Elektroprivreda Republike Srpske,” Luka Petrović, said it is a very good idea to organize a conference that will bring together construction professionals from across the region. “Eminent experts from around the world will come as moderators and panelists who will point to the region’s potential. We will place our city and our region at the center of attention, because we believe that Trebinje has excellent potential, not only in tourism but also in the economy,” Petrović said. The theme “Energy of the Future: Major Projects, Major Risks” is also of interest to domestic energy producers, such as Hydropower Plants on the Trebišnjica River, under whose umbrella the HPP Dabar is being built, one of the largest hydropower facilities in the territory of the former Yugoslavia. Director of Hydropower Plants on the Trebišnjica, Gordan Mišeljić, expressed hope that this conference will become established. “I am aware that eminent companies are coming, and I think people will get acquainted with new technologies and new trends in construction, which is great,” Mišeljić said. Participation in this prestigious event has been announced by “Elektroprivreda Srbije” /Electric Power Company of Serbia/, “Elektroprivreda Crne Gore,” “Elektroprivreda Republike Srpske,” EFT, Integral Inženjering, and EL Promet.
