SELAK: WHY ARE THERE NO SERBS IN THE HIGHEST POSITIONS IN FBiH?
BANJA LUKA, JUNE 28 /SRNA/ – Republika Srpska Minister of Justice Goran Selak warned that there are no Serbs holding the highest offices in the FBiH, while representatives of all three constituent peoples, as well as Others, are represented in Srpska.
If the constituent status of the peoples is the foundation of the Dayton Peace Agreement and the constitutional order of BiH, Selak said, then that principle must be applied consistently in both entities. Selak asked whether the principle of the constituent status of the peoplesin BiH is being applied equally in both entities, referring to the ethnic composition of holders of the highest offices in Republika Srpska and the FBiH. He stated that in Republika Srpska, the president of the republic, the prime minister and the speaker of the National Assembly are Serbs, the chairman of the Council of Peoples and the president of the Constitutional Court are Bosniaks, the chief republic prosecutor is a Croat, while the president of the Supreme Court is from the category of Others. On the other hand, he pointed out that in the FBiH, the positions of the president of the Federation, the chairman of the House of Peoples, the president of the Supreme Court and the person currently presiding over the House of Representatives are held by Croats, while the prime minister and the chief federal prosecutor are Bosniaks, and the president of the Constitutional Court is from the category of Others. "I ask a simple question: where are the Serbs in the highest offices in the FBiH?" Selak said. Equal standards, he says, are the only path toward mutual trust, respect and genuine equality of all constituent peoples in BiH.
