MINIĆ: FREEDOM CONTINUOUSLY DRIVES SERB PEOPLE FORWARD

BANJA LUKA, SEPTEMBER 14 /SRNA/ – Republika Srpska Prime Minister Savo Minić has said this evening in Banja Luka that the Serb people is continuously driven by freedom, which has no price and is the common goal of Republika Srpska and Serbia.

Minić said that by marking the Day of Serb Unity, Freedom and the National Flag, Republika Srpska and Serbia demonstrate that they constitute a single homeland space which, unfortunately, has always been subject to administrative borders. “We know what we aspire to - for the Drina River to be the backbone, and for Republika Srpska and Serbia to be the two lungs of one body and one people, one faith, one history, one culture and everything else we share,” Minić said, addressing those gathered at the central ceremony marking the holiday. He added that it is the responsibility of people today to pass the truth on to future generations - not so that they will hate anyone, but so that they will know the price paid for freedom and so that others cannot tell them a distorted version of the truth. “A homeland exists only when it is free,” Minić said. He stressed the importance of Serb unity, saying that freedom is an axiom of the Serb people and that the flag is more than a piece of fabric. “Our Serbian Orthodox Church unites us; our holidays, saints, prayers and divined liturgies bind us together as one to honour the Almighty, to love our brother, to forgive, but not to forget. I believe that it is in this spirit that we have managed to survive and remain who we are,” Minić said. He stressed that the ties between Republika Srpska and Serbia are stronger than ever, that they are the product not only of formal agreements but of something that encompasses life on both sides of the Drina, and that President Milorad Dodik and Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vučić deserve the greatest credit for this. He is convinced that Republika Srpska and Serbia can preserve themselves in these challenging and difficult times only through unity, sincerity, friendship and brotherhood. “But we must not forget, we must be worthy of our homeland. Long live Republika Srpska! Long live Serbia!” Minić said.
