SARAJEVO DELIBERATELY "FORGOT" THAT TVRTKO WAS ALSO THE KING OF SERBS, THE LITTORAL AND THE HUM LAND
EAST SARAJEVO, AUGUST 29 /SRNA/ - East Sarajevo Mayor LJubiša Ćosić told SRNA that it is good that a monument to King Tvrtko was erected in Sarajevo, but that they probably deliberately forgot to write, in addition to the Bosnian king, the king of the Serbs, the Littoral and the Hum land.
Ćosić pointed out that it is good that what is common from the past is marked, and added that monuments to those personalities should be erected throughout BiH, including Sarajevo. "However, it is obvious that political Sarajevo deliberately forgot to point out that King Tvrtko was a Bosnian ban from 1351 to 1377, when he was crowned king in the Mileševa Monastery, where he called himself the king of the Serbs, Bosnia, the Littoral and the Hum land," Ćosić emphasized. According to him, during the coronation in Mileševa, where the relics of Saint Sava rested, he added the name Stefan, as all the Nemanjićs were called, considering that through his grandmother Jelisaveta, the daughter of King Dragutin, he was related to that Serbian dynasty. "He signed his name in Cyrillic and he definitely was the king of the Serbian land. Obviously, political Sarajevo has forgotten these historical facts. But let's leave these things to historians to deal with. However, it is clear as day that Sarajevo somehow cannot be detached from its roots and that's good," Ćosić said. Ćosić pointed out that it must not be allowed that political Sarajevo take Tvrtko as their own in such a way that they decided to write "Bosnian king Tvrtko Kotromanić the First" in Latin. According to him, Tvrtko signed his charter in 1377 as the king of the Serbs, Bosnia, the Littoral and the Hum land, and this is historical information, as well as the fact that he was crowned in Mileševa Monastery, and that medieval Bosnia existed and was connected to the Serbs and the Serbian land. "The fact that they are trying to avoid it is just an indication that they somehow want to create their own opinion about Bosnia. Medieval Bosnia is not even close to today's BiH," said the mayor of East Sarajevo. The monument to King Stefan Tvrtko Kotromanić the First appeared this morning in a park not far from the BiH Presidency building in Sarajevo.
