NUŽDIC: PARLIAMENT TO ADOPT REPORT OF INDEPENDENT INTERNATIONAL COMMISSION ON SREBRENICA

BANJA LUKA, APRIL 18 /SRNA/ - Acting Director of the Republic Center for Research on War, War Crimes and Search for Missing Persons Viktor Nuždić proposed for the Parliament of Srpska to adopt the report of the Independent International Commission for Researching the Suffering of All Peoples in the Srebrenica Region in the Period 1992-1995 in which it is written that neither an individual crime of genocide nor genocide in general took place in Srebrenica.

Explaining this report in the parliament of Republika Srpska, Nuždić pointed out that on August 14, 2018, the National Assembly of Srpska rejected with its conclusions the report of the Commission on the events in and around Srebrenica from July 10 to 19, 1995, which was made in 2004. He reminded that the National Assembly of Republika Srpska rejected the mentioned report, considering that it was made under the pressure of the then High Representative Paddy Ashdown. Nuždić said that the Government of Republika Srpska in its conclusions supported the views expressed in the report of the Independent International Commission, and confirmed that the term "genocide" for Srebrenica is incorrect and inadmissible, and cannot be accepted. "The Government of Republika Srpska permanently rejects this qualification, bearing in mind that the minimum number of members of the Muslim forces, prisoners of war, captured and executed is between 1,500 and 2,000, and the maximum between 2,500 and 3,000, of which one number was exchanged," Nuždić emphasized . He said that the Government in its conclusions points to the fact that the Commission's report found that in the period from 1992 to 1995, as a result of the ethnic cleansing of the Serb people, more than 2,650 civilians, captured soldiers and members of the village guards were killed and died. Nuždić stated that the Government is convinced that only a complete and truthful assessment of the war events in the Srebrenica region, but also in the whole of Bosnia and Herzegovina, will contribute to the strengthening of trust and tolerance between the peoples of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the final reconciliation and coexistence of current and future generations. He said that in the conclusions the Government expresses its respect for all victims and their families from the tragic conflict in BiH, condemns war crimes committed on all sides and demands non-discriminatory prosecution of all those responsible for war crimes on all sides. Nuždić said that the Independent International Commission was formed by the decision of the Government of Srpska with the intention that a comprehensive overview of the events in Srebrenica and its surroundings will contribute to the strengthening of trust and tolerance among the peoples of BiH, the final reconciliation and coexistence of current and future generations. He stated that the Commission of 10 world experts was chaired by Israeli Gideon Greif. This report with more than 1,000 pages of text is available on the website of this commission www.infocomis-srebrenica.org, as well as on the website of the Republic Center for Research on War, War Crimes and Search for Missing Persons.
