INDEPENDENT INTERNATIONAL COMMISSION ON SREBRENICA’S REPORT ADOPTED
BANJA LUKA, APRIL 18 /SRNA/ - The Republika Srpska National Assembly adopted the final report by the Independent International Commission Investigating Suffering of All Peoples in the Srebrenica Region between 1992 and 1995, which reads that neither an individual crime of genocide nor genocide in general took place in Srebrenica.
The Srpska Parliament supported the views expressed in the conclusions of the report by the Independent International Commission Investigating Suffering of All Peoples in the Srebrenica Region between 1992 and 1995, confirming that the term "genocide" for Srebrenica is inaccurate and cannot be accepted, read the conclusions reached by Srpska-based political parties’ deputies caucuses. The National Assembly permanently rejects such qualification, bearing in mind that the minimum number of Muslim forces members, prisoners of war, captured and killed is between 1,500 and 2,000, and the maximum number is up to 3,000, the conclusions state. According to the conclusions, the National Assembly states that the Commission's report will contribute to an objective and impartial assessment of the suffering of all peoples in the Srebrenica region, particularly emphasizing the fact that the Commission worked in completely neutral conditions, without any demands or impositions by the Republika Srpska institutions or any political demands. The National Assembly is convinced that only a comprehensive and truthful review of the war events in the Srebrenica region, but also in the entire BiH, will contribute to the strengthening of trust and tolerance among the peoples of BiH, the final reconciliation and coexistence of current and future generations, read the conclusions. The Parliament of Republika Srpska expresses its reverence for the victims of the tragic conflict in BiH and their families, condeming the war crimes committed on all sides. In its conclusions, the National Assembly rejects the Report of the Commission Investigating Events in and Around Srebrenica between July 10 and 19, 1995, made in Banja Luka in June 2004 and October 15, 2004, finding it inaccurate, tendentious, speculative, politically imposed by High Representative Paddy Ashdown, made in an unobjective and malicious manner against the Serbs and Republika Srpska. The conclusions condemn and consider as absolutely inadmissible and unacceptable the activities of Ambassador Zlatko Lagumdžija, the permanent representative of BiH at the UN, which are aimed at preparing and submitting a proposed resolution on the "genocide" in Srebrenica to the UN General Assembly without consultation and consent of the institutions of BiH, entities and constituent peoples, in order to demonize Republika Srpska and the Serb people as genocidal. The conclusions request that the Serb member of the BiH Presidency initiates the procedure in the Presidency of BiH for Ambassador Zlatko Lagumdžija’s dismissal, because Republika Srpska and the Serb people reject him as the ambassador of BiH. The National Assembly of Republika Srpska states that the mechanism of BiH foreign policy has collapsed and that appointed ambassadors from Republika Srpska must respect the Republika Srpska institutions’ decisions and are only obliged to follow the foreign policy of BiH, which is based on the Constitution of BiH and the BiH Presidency’s decisions exclusively agreed, says the text.
