TRBIĆ: JAHORINA AND BJELAŠNICA SUFFER THE LEAST FROM CLIMATE CHANGES
JAHORINA, JULY 18 /SRNA/ - Jahorina and Bjelašnica suffer the least from climate change, although at the level of Bosnia and Herzegovina an increase in temperature of about two degrees Celsius has already been established, said professor of climatology at the Faculty of Science in Banja Luka, Goran Trbić.
"Climate changes are here, and everyone involved in tourism must find other solutions, first of all turn to the development of summer tourism and the extension of the summer season to spring and fall" Trbić told reporters. Stating that due to such temperature trends, it is logical to expect warm winters and fewer days with snow cover, Trbić pointed out that it is good that climate changes are least felt in Jahorina and Bjelašnica. When it comes to the winter season in mountain tourist centers, Trbić stresses that without snowfall, which requires a low temperature, it is difficult to talk about the winter season. "If these climate trends continue, we will be without a winter season," warned Trbić. He stated that the temperature has risen by three degrees in major cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is why the inhabitants of urban areas are looking for refuge from the high summer temperature in the mountains. He believes that the global decarbonization process will stop the rise in temperatures, which would help return to the climate normal of two or three decades ago. Today in Jahorina, Trbić participated in a round table on the occasion of the start of the study "Impact of climate change on winter tourism - BiH practice", which will be based on quantitative research on the impact of climate change on winter tourist centers, primarily Jahorina and Bjelašnica, in terms of moving the start of the winter season, reduction of snow cover and length of winter season.
