RADOVAN KARADŽIĆ BEING DENIED ALL HUMAN RIGHTS

ISTOČNO SARAJEVO, AUGUST 22 /SRNA/ - Sonja Karadžić Jovičević, the daughter of the first president of Republika Srpska, told SRNA that her father Radovan Karadžić was completely denied all human rights in a British prison and pointed out the unprofessionalism of the British media, which all write identically about Karadžić's lawsuit against the British Government, without the courage to publish the factual situation.

"I see that the British media got hold of the topic and they all write as if they are from one editorial office and under the control of one editor, which in a broader sense they are. The lack of professionalism, but also the courage to fully investigate and publish the factual situation, is pathetic", said Karadžić Jovičević, when asked by SRNA how she commented on the information that appeared in the British media that the first president of Republika Srpska, Radovan Karadžić, is suing the British Government for inhumane treatment. Karadžić Jovičević stated that no matter what names they call Radovan by and no matter how much they trivialize the story of the violation of all human rights, that does not change the facts that they avoid stating and that is why they must be reminded of. "Radovan was delivered to Britain after the Hague fulfilled the wish of Dominik Rab, a former employee of the Prosecutor's Office of the Tribunal and the then minister, based on his personal connections and influence, who thereby tried to preserve and strengthen his position in the Government and the party," Karadžić Jovičević reminded. She noted that Radovan was placed in the most distant prison so that his family and legal advisers could not visit him, which is in direct contradiction to the UN Resolutions and the "Nelson Mandela Rules" as an integral part of the Resolution, which include, first of all, the accommodation of prisoners to serve the sentence in the institution closest to the family. "Even before the transfer, Rab presented it as a 'personal success' and excitedly published it on 'Twitter' with congratulations to Muslims on the religious holiday," Karadžić's daughter added, stating that this was only to illustrate the state of mind and intentions of a minister. She added that it did not help him to save his positions either. "Radovan has been under various sanctions for more than three years, continuously, from unexplained placement in solitary confinement, ban on contact with his family or limited contact to one call per week exclusively in English for up to five minutes, through denial of food, taking away chairs, pillows and mattresses, bans on watching the news on RTV networks, punishment for the announcements and statements of various people with whom he is not in contact and on whom he has no influence, to punishment for refusing to be forcibly 'socialized' with other prisoners, behind which, they do not even hide the open intention to put his life in danger, as General Krstić was in. As if the physical and psychological harassment by guards was not enough," Karadžić Jovičević stressed. She revealed that months after the lent he was still kept on lean food, that he lost more than 20 kilograms in a short period and that he continues to lose weight. "Thus impaired health is further threatened, but at the same time, he is denied the right to medical assistance, diagnostics, therapy and controls," Karadžić Jovičević pointed out. She noted that, in addition, he was given the choice to choose whether to spend his own money on food or on the phone. "He can't do both. Therefore, he must starve if he wants to hear from his family, and all this under restrictions in the type of food and the conditions of calling his family," Karadžić Jovičević stated. She assessed that keeping life in constant threat and danger is nothing more than carrying out the intent to kill in continuous multiple attempts. "It is clear that Radovan was completely denied all human rights, including the right to adequate nutrition, medical assistance, contact with his family, his religious rights, the right to cultural life, writing and reading, the right to work on case review, not to list any further. One can start with the list of human rights and cross out all of them," Karadžić Jovičević emphasized. She noted that the list of "reasons" for punishment inside the prison is too long, especially because the "reasons" are made up and kept in reserve for months, and then activated and sanctioned without explanation, so that the punishment is continuous. "According to their rules, for serious violations of discipline, no punishment is and cannot be longer than four weeks, and he has been under various forfeits for more than three years, without interruption, until today," Karadžić Jovičević pointed out. She assessed that even the desperate attempts to reduce the journalist's story to a ban on laptop use cannot be trivialized, because it is a violation of the previously approved use of one's own laptop to work on documents and prepare a review of the procedure. "Therefore, he is prevented from working on the case, which every legal system assumes and must enable. Even the Hague Tribunal," Karadžić Jovičević assessed. She mentioned that the Tribunal, UN services and the British have repeatedly examined the financial possibilities for Radovan to pay for the defense in the case before the Tribunal, as well as in this case before the British court. "Given that they themselves concluded that he does not have that possibility, it remains to be seen whether there is a legal system and human rights in Britain, or whether they are in disintegration as prison, education, health, police... at least according to the reporting of the world media" ,Karadžić Jovičević added. She added that it is a separate story why Republika Srpska and Serbia, calling for resolutions and international law, as justice-loving countries, do not raise their voices, when more and more individuals, experts and institutions around the world are raising their voices, based on the analysis of the facts and consequences of the influence and manipulation by powerful individuals from the shadows on the work of the Tribunal, the UN, individual officials, statesmen and governments around the world, and especially the manipulation of the media. She added that the Serbian people are at the top of the list of examples of injustice, fabricated "facts", blackmail and pressure. "While we are silent, we are not only approving, we are also complicit. In our case, we are additionally victims who calmly await the effects of our silence and the rope around our necks, depriving ourselves of any legal and argumentative fight in the hope that the rope will bypass us. It will not, as it didn't other nations either," concluded Karadžić Jovičević exclusively for SRNA. SRNA learns from judicial sources dealing with the verdict against Karadžić that, since he was repeatedly threatened, mentally and physically abused, without medical help, there was no other option but for Karadžić to sue the state that made the contract with the Tribunal on serving the sentence under prescribed conditions, and they have no conditions nor are they capable and interested in having them. "Great Britain is simply a country that sought and received Radovan as a trophy, as a reward for its Serbophobic politics and so that they could hide their role in the events during the war," the source of SRNA noted. SRNA's source adds that Karadžić cannot finance it, so "it remains to be seen whether there is a judicial system and protection of human rights or an approved system of additional punishment of already convicted people". The first president of Republika Srpska, Radovan Karadžić, is suing the British Government for inhumane treatment, the British daily "Mail" reported and stated that Karadđić is demanding GBP 50,000 for human rights violations. He addressed the court via video link last week to sue British Justice Minister Shabana Mahmood. The newspaper recalled that Karadžić was placed in Albany Prison on the Isle of Wight, where he is serving a life sentence after being convicted at the Hague Tribunal. It is a prison that has a reputation as one of the worst prison institutions in Great Britain and does not meet the numerous conditions stipulated by the standards in most European countries. On several occasions, Karadžić's daughter, Sonja, pointed out the very difficult conditions in which her father is and his poor state of health, due to the fact that they do not provide him with medical examinations or adequate treatment.
