DODIK: DAY OF MOURNING IN SRPSKA DUE TO FLOODS IN FBiH TO BE DESIGNATED
BANJA LUKA, OCTOBER 5 /SRNA/ - The President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik says that on Monday, October 7, the Srpska Government will designate a day to be declared a day of mourning in Srpska due to the floods and landslides that affected parts of the Federation of BiH /FBiH /.
Dodik has expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and reminded that he sent BAM 250,000 in aid to the municipalities in FBiH affected by natural disasters, calling on other officials and humane people who are able to help. "We must always be humane, no matter where the disasters happen, because it is obvious that it is now something we need to get used to," Dodik told the press in Banja Luka. He has reiterated that Republika Srpska is always ready to help and show humanity. Dodik points out that pressure is being exerted for the Council of Ministers to make a decision on the day of mourning, and noted that this is politicization, for which there is no place in such situation. "The Council of Ministers is not responsible for that, but it is a matter for the governments of Republika Srpska and the Federation of BiH. The Government of Srpska will do it on Monday and designate a date of mourning," said Dodik. In the catastrophic floods and landslides in the area of Konjic and Jablanica, according to information from the Crisis Staff of the Civil Protection of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, 13 people lost their lives, and 10 of them are missing. The catastrophic consequences of intense rainfall, including landslides, are being repaired today in Kiseljak, Fojnica, Vareš, Kreševo and Drvar. Due to the situation caused by heavy rainfall, the FBiH Government yesterday declared a state of natural disaster in the territory of the Federation and formed a crisis headquarters which is in permanent session and are tasked with coordinating rescue activities.
