NEŠIĆ: EU MEMBER STATES WILL BENEFIT MOST FROM BiH - FRONTEX AGREEMENT
SARAJEVO, OCTOBER 15 /SRNA/ - Minister of Security in the Council of Ministers Nenad Nešić says the EU countries will benefit the most from the agreement between BiH and the European Border and Coast Guard Agency /FRONTEX/, because they want to prevent the arrival of migrants to their territory.
"Let's not be fooled, they have the greatest interest in the signing of the agreement between BiH and FRONTEX. They know that BiH is a transit route and that a large number of migrants are coming through BiH," Nešić told SRNA. Commenting on the trilateral meeting of the interior ministers of Croatia, Italy and Slovenia in Zaprešić, where they supported the signing of the agreement between FRONTEX and BiH, Nešić asked what will be done with the border crossings where migrants enter? "Croatian Minister of Internal Affairs Davor Božinović says that 500 members of FRONTEX in BiH mean much more than any employee, including FRONTEX's, on the Croatian border. They are, above all, interested in protecting, i.e. preventing the entry of migrants into their territory, which is why BiH must be guided by its own interests," Nešić pointed out. Nešić thanked the three ministers for their support and reiterated that BiH knows what their interests are in that story. At a trilateral meeting in Zaprešić, the ministers of interior affairs of Croatia, Italy and Slovenia supported the signing of an agreement between FRONTEX and BiH to mitigate illegal migration. This is the fifth meeting of the three ministers after internal controls were introduced at the former border crossings between the three countries.
