RESOLVE THE SARAJEVO-FOČA ROAD ISSUE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE

FOČA, JULY 31 /SRNA/ - Trnovo Mayor Miroslav Bjelica said today that it is evident that the Sarajevo-Foča road is in poor condition and that measures should be taken as soon as possible to resolve the issue.

FOČA, JULY 31 /SRNA/ - Trnovo Mayor Miroslav Bjelica said today that it is evident that the Sarajevo-Foča road is in poor condition and that measures should be taken as soon as possible to resolve the issue.

“I do not doubt that 'Republika Srpska Roads' and the relevant institutions will begin addressing these problems in the shortest possible time,” Bjelica told reporters in Foča. After a meeting in Foča following yesterday’s traffic accident on the Foča–Sarajevo main road, at the Sijeračke Stijene location, in which a woman was killed, Bjelica stated that the accident is a wake-up call for everyone in Republika Srpska and BiH, and that something must be done to address the issues on this road. "The authorities at the BiH level should also get involved and react as soon as possible, because this is not a problem of Republika Srpska alone," Bjelica said. According to him, there are frozen financial assets at the BiH level, controlled by foreign actors, which should now be allocated to “Republika Srpska Roads” to resolve the issue of the Foča–Sarajevo road. He also said that certain conclusions were reached at the meeting, and that there is an alternative route, adding that it is now up to the experts to determine which direction will be taken in the coming period. Representatives of the leadership of the surrounding municipalities and the company "Republika Srpska Roads" attended the meeting in Foča following yesterday's serious traffic accident on the Foča-Sarajevo main road at the Sijeračke Stijene location.
