KONAKOVIĆ'S DANGEROUS AMBITION TO SHAPE COURT RULINGS ACCORDING TO POLITICAL DICTATE

SARAJEVO, AUGUST 1 /SRNA/ - The Head of the SNSD Caucus in the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, Sanja Vulić, told SRNA that the statement by Foreign Minister Elmedin Konaković, in which he said he would call for mass protests if Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik is acquitted, constitutes pressure on the judiciary and reveals a bare ambition to shape court rulings according to political dictate.

Vulić stated that such conduct by Konaković represents direct interference in the work of judicial institutions and that, under BiH law, it could constitute a criminal offense, an attempt to influence the judiciary. "Konaković has long behaved like a political charlatan without any principles. Behind his grand talk of reforms and 'higher goals' lie personal ambitions, private networks, and an obsessive need to please the last international figure who opens their door to him. In reality, Konaković acts as a political commissar of the so-called international community that installed him, but cannot give him what the people do not want," Vulić said. She stated that Konaković's credibility has completely shattered. He is not taken seriously, either within his party or by the citizens. Even his remaining allies are distancing themselves from him as his political standing continues to decline rapidly. "Instead of taking responsibility for the office he holds, Konaković still thinks like a member of the opposition, because he knows he never earned that position, that it was imposed on him," Vulić said. She emphasized that it is particularly hypocritical that Dodik is being tried under ‘Schmidt’s law’ rather than one passed by Parliament. “Dodik is being tried under such a law, while the same Christian Schmidt protects Konaković from domestic laws, institutions, and accountability, despite serious suspicions surrounding him. When he realizes he won’t be able to avoid the opening of cases in which he is allegedly involved, Konaković calls for anarchy, not in the name of justice, but to obscure the truth,” Vulić said. She added that even Konaković is aware he lacks both the arguments and the authority for the upcoming election campaign, not even in the two cantons where his party formally exists. "He has lost support because his ideological creator and main sponsor, U.S. Ambassador Michael Murphy, has retired, and the new actors do not share the same kind of trust in his political opportunism," she said. Vulić believes that Konaković's attempt to reconcile with the SDA, after years of underhanded behavior, is a sign of his desperation. "He will not succeed! His role in inciting foreign officials against Professor Dr. Sebija Izetbegović will not be forgotten, especially since a great injustice was committed against her with his silence and complicity," Vulić said. Vulić stressed that BiH must not be a hostage to such political adventurers, and that the judiciary must stay beyond the reach of Konaković's ambitions and blackmail.
