CVIJANOVIĆ: GOVERNMENT OF NATIONAL UNITY – A FORMULA FOR OVERCOMING A COMPLEX SITUATION

BANJA LUKA, AUGUST 4 /SRNA/ - SNSD Vice President Željka Cvijanović stated that a government of national unity in Republika Srpska represents a formula for overcoming the complex situation, and would demonstrate the responsibility of all political actors and that these actors should be brought together by the SNSD, as a serious political party, to deliver a unified response to the political verdict against the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik.
“A government of national unity would mean a coordinated platform both at the BiH level and within Republika Srpska. It would be a formula that should help us navigate the challenges of these complex times, while also reflecting a sense of responsibility and a position of all political actors regarding the current moment,” Cvijanović said at a press conference in Banja Luka, following the session of the SNSD Main Board. She emphasized that a complex moment requires major decisions, adding that the SNSD is a serious political party that should bring together political actors in order to deliver a unified response to the political verdict against the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik. "We should show resistance, so that 30 years after the war and all the injustices Republika Srpska has endured, and after 30 years of internal political disagreements, we try to overcome this difficult time by demonstrating unity. Regardless of the statements made by certain individuals, our citizens want to see unity as a condemnation of the attack on Republika Srpska," Cvijanović said. She pointed out that anyone who has looked at the Dayton Peace Agreement can see where the Constitution of BiH stands and who the legitimate proposers of laws in BiH are, emphasizing that the role of the High Representatives is clearly defined in Annex 10 of this agreement. Cvijanović stated that the individual named Christian Schmidt has stepped outside the mandate of the Dayton Peace Agreement and has acted as a proposer of laws. “The amendments he proposed have no parliamentary verification whatsoever. They are part of an undemocratic process and a society we left behind in some past century. This is proof that BiH exists as a colonial administration,” Cvijanović emphasized.
