DAČIĆ: ANYONE WHO BELIEVES WE'LL STAND IDLY BY CEC DECISION IS DEEPLY MISTAKEN

BELGRADE, AUGUST 6 /SRNA/ – Serbia's Deputy Prime Minister Ivica Dačić told SRNA that the BiH CEC's revoking the office of Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik is not only legally and politically questionable but also a direct attack on Republika Srpska, which the Serb people will not remain silent about.

"If today they can remove a president elected in democratic elections, tomorrow they could abolish Republika Srpska itself. The Serb people will not remain silent in the face of injustice. Anyone who believe we’ll stand idly is deeply mistaken," Dačić stated in a written comment to SRNA. Dačić has emphasized that this represents the most serious political blow to the Serb people since the signing of the Dayton Peace Agreement. He has pointed out that this issue is not about Dodik as an individual, but rather about an attempt to delegitimize the institutions of Republika Srpska and nullify the will of its citizens. The Central Election Commission of BiH today issued a decision terminating the presidential office of Milorad Dodik as President of Republika Srpska, who was elected in the 2022 general elections. The decision is subject to appeal. CEC's decision followed the ruling of the Appellate Division of the Court of BiH, which upheld an earlier first-instance judgment sentencing President Dodik to one year in prison and six years of a ban on political activity for "non-compliance with the decisions of Christian Schmidt".
