CITY ASSEMBLY OF LAKTAŠI UNANIMOUSLY REJECTS VERDICT AGAINST PRESIDENT OF REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

LAKTAŠI, August 12 /SRNA/ - At an extraordinary session, the City Assembly of Laktaši unanimously adopted a decision rejecting the verdict recently handed down by the Court of BiH against Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik.

Concern was expressed over a politically motivated process and verdict directed against the legitimately elected President of Republika Srpska. Assembly members unanimously concluded that the verdict is a precedent in the judiciary of BiH and raises numerous questions regarding legal certainty and political stability. "A high representative who has not been confirmed by relevant international institutions cannot impose laws in Republika Srpska and act against the Constitution of the Republic. We believe there must not and cannot be any political force, domestic or foreign, that decides who is the President of Republika Srpska, who its deputies and representatives are - except the citizens of Srpska themselves," it was stated at the extraordinary session of the Laktaši City Assembly. The Laktaši City Assembly has three caucuses: the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats – Milorad Dodik /22 members/, the Serb Democratic Party - Will of the People /three members/, and United Srpska /three members/.
