EXHIBITION OF SPORTS GREATS’ EQUIPMENT
DOBOJ, AUGUST 13 /SRNA/ – The exhibition “Traces of Victory” by Boris Vrhovac from Banja Luka, featuring equipment of sports greats, opened today in Doboj as part of the 56th International Handball TV Champions Tournament.
Vrhovac, who has been collecting for about 40 years, displayed several jerseys of handball stars from different eras, as well as sports equipment and memorabilia from various sports, such as Novak Đoković’s tennis racket and Mike Tyson’s boxing glove. He stated that this is part of his collection, which contains about 1,300 sports memorabilia items, some of which – such as Diego Maradona’s farewell jersey – are virtually priceless. Vrhovac told reporters that he has no intention of selling the collection and that his wish is for it to be displayed in Banja Luka, for which a Sports Museum would need to be built. He explained that, out of respect for Doboj-born Danijel Šarić, he is participating for the second time as part of the accompanying program of the International Handball TV Champions Tournament, which begins this evening. Vrhovac is ranked among the world’s top five collectors of jerseys and other equipment from elite athletes, and is unique in that he has received all the items directly as gifts, complete with signatures. The exhibition is set up in the Art Gallery of the Doboj Center for Culture and Education, and admission is free. Visitors can see it until Saturday, August 16, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
