RADANOVIĆ: DAILY ATTACKS ON SERBS IN FBiH

SARAJEVO, SEPTEMBER 8 /SRNA/ – In the Federation of BiH, Serbs and children wearing T-shirts with Cyrillic inscriptions are attacked daily, Serb monuments are being destroyed, and Orthodox churches are being targeted, Đorđe Radanović, the head of the Serbs’ Rights Protection Committee, stated in SRNA statement.

Radanović pointed out, in relation to the recent spraying Ustasha symbols and the salute "For the homeland – ready!" in the Serb returnee village of Baćevići near Mostar, that this is not the first time such incidents have occurred, and that there have even been attacks on Serb children. "Any kind of provocation against the people in Baćevići, who are mostly elderly, is a serious criminal offense," said Radanović. He recalled that a few years ago, Ustasha graffiti were also written on the Orthodox cemetery in Vihovići, and that such incidents are nothing new in this part of Herzegovina, where the Ustasha movement historically had strong ideological support. "I’m not surprised at all – what does surprise me is that there are still no investigations into these incidents," Radanović said. He emphasized that prosecutors' offices and ministries of internal affairs in the Herzegovina cantons should be more engaged in identifying those who provoke Serb returnees. A monument to fallen fighters of the National Liberation War /WWII/ and civilian victims of the Second World War in the Serb returnee village of Baćevići near Mostar was found this morning defaced with fascist symbols and the Ustasha salute "For the homeland – ready!", which has disturbed the local population.
