BANJA LUKA, OCTOBER 28 /SRNA/ – Approximately 4,000 individuals have been prosecuted for war crimes in Croatia, , most of whom were members of the JNA /Yugoslav People's Army/, the Serb Army of Krajina, and several officials, while only three percent were Croats, Savo Štrbac, director of the Veritas Documentation - Information Centre, told SRNA.

"Croats are not concerned whether someone actually committed the crimes they are charged with; what matters to them is classifying these acts as war crimes. In this way, they aim to reinforce the state narrative that the JNA and local Serbs, together with Serbia, carried out aggression against Croatia through these verdicts," Štrbac said. Štrbac emphasized that no one has been prosecuted for war crimes committed against Serbs during the 1995 Croatian military-police operation Flash, and that the Hague Tribunal never conducted an intensive investigation into these crimes as it did for operations Storm and the Medak Pocket. He adds that investigations into war crimes against Serbs in western Slavonia were never conducted, despite abundant evidence and documentation. Štrbac also noted that only a few cases of war crimes against Serbs in operation Storm have been prosecuted in Croatia, with just two individuals being finally convicted for war crimes.
