AMERICA RECOGNISES SRPSKA AS POTENTIAL PARTNER
BANJA LUKA, OCTOBER 30 /SRNA/ – International relations expert Lučijano Kaluža told SRNA that the most important aspect of the U.S. decision to lift sanctions against President Milorad Dodik, officials, and legal entities from Republika Srpska is that the U.S. administration has recognised that Srpska is not a disruptive factor but a potential partner.
He stated that this was also reflected in the U.S. administration’s subsequent explanations that Republika Srpska is on a positive course, something that should please all Srpska residence. "It is important that this be demonstrated, both for investment and economic reasons, but also politically, that the United States has recognised Republika Srpska as a potential partner, as stated in the U.S. State Department’s announcement," Kaluža emphasized. According to him, the lifting of sanctions was expected, especially after the State Department welcomed the adoption of new decisions in the Republika Srpska National Assembly and the appointment of Ana Trišić Babić as acting president of Srpska. Kaluža says that a new geopolitical relationship is being established, bringing changes not only in the Balkans but throughout the world, and that BiH and Republika Srpska are part of those positive developments. "This is one in a series of decisions or actions that have been implemented, and I expect there will be more in the coming months that will position Republika Srpska as a U.S. partner. That will be a strong tailwind for us in future communications with the EU," Kaluža stressed. The U.S. Department of the Treasury has lifted sanctions against President Milorad Dodik, the Serb member of the Presidency of BiH Željka Cvijanović, the Speaker of the Republika Srpska National Assembly Nenad Stevandić, as well as other individuals and companies that were sanctioned during the previous U.S. administration.
