MEASURES TO SECURE LONG-TERM STABILITY OF POWER SECTOR

BANJA LUKA, NOVEMBER 13 /SRNA/ – The Government of Republika Srpska demands urgent measures to ensure the long-term sustainability of the power sector, energy security, and the optimal supply of sufficient electricity to meet the needs of Republika Srpska.

At its thematic session dedicated to the Mixed Holding “Elektroprivreda Republike Srpske,” the Government expressed determination and readiness to ensure the company’s continued functioning and requested that the possibilities for a more efficient organizational structure be considered. At the session, the Government of Republika Srpska adopted the Information on the current situation in the company and instructed “Elektroprivreda” and its 11 subsidiaries to prepare, within 15 days from the adoption of this conclusion, dynamic plans for implementing measures and activities aimed at improving operations, including projections of the effects of the undertaken steps. The company “Elektroprivreda” was tasked with preparing a consolidated dynamic plan at the level of the Mixed Holding and submitting it to the Government of Republika Srpska and the LINE ministry no later than 20 days after receiving this conclusion, the Government’s Public Relations Bureau announced. The Ministry of Energy and Mining and “Elektroprivreda Republike Srpske” were also instructed to analyze the current organizational structure of the holding and assess possibilities for its more functional organization. The Ministry of Energy and Mining has the task to monitor the implementation of this conclusion and to inform the Government of Republika Srpska on its progress.
