NOVEMBER 25 OBSERVANCES IN FBiH MOCK ANTI-FASCISM

BANJA LUKA, NOVEMBER 24 /SRNA/ – There is no Statehood Day in BiH, as no law has ever been passed on the matter, and therefore, any marking of November 25 in the Bosniak-majority part of the Federation of BiH /FBiH/ is nothing more than a farce and a mockery of the honorable anti-fascist struggle, Slobodan Župljanin, president of the Organization of Commanding Officers of the Republika Srpska Army /RSA/, told SRNA.

"In Republika Srpska, no one even thinks of marking this date, even though the Serb people living in Republika Srpska today, and their ancestors, made the greatest sacrifice in the fight against Nazism and fascism," Župljanin said. He noted that Serbs, as legalists, can only accept holidays that are agreed upon by all three constituent peoples of BiH and legally enacted. Since no law exists, tomorrow will be a regular working day in Republika Srpska. According to him, the actions of FBiH represent just another usual provocation and manipulation of historical facts. "At the global level, processes of revisionism and repositioning are taking place, where Nazis and fascists attempt to take the place of anti-Nazis and anti-fascists. In FBiH, they behave like a frog raising its leg for horseshoeing," Župljanin believes. The former ZAVNOBiH Day, November 25, is observed as the so-called Statehood Day in Bosniak-majority parts of FBiH, while Croats do not recognize it as a holiday. At the BiH level, there is no law on holidays, so the entities follow their respective holiday laws in Republika Srpska and FBiH. Republika Srpska celebrates January 9 as Republic Day and November 21 as the Day of the General Framework Agreement for Peace in BiH.
