ČOVIĆ: UNDERMINING THREE-PILLAR STRUCTURE OF BiH PERMANENTLY DAMAGES COUNTRY

SARAJEVO, DECEMBER 30 /SRNA/ – Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples Dragan Čović stated that all those who lack sufficient political wisdom to understand that undermining the three-pillar structure of BiH permanently damages the country continue to dream a distant dream of a mono-ethnic state that will never see the light of day.

Čović said that BiH today is far from a fair electoral system that consistently applies and protects the constitutional provisions on the equality of the three constituent peoples. "I am primarily referring to the so-called deterrence instruments, which were conceived under the Dayton framework precisely to discourage anyone who, through perfidious political actions, seeks to achieve their wartime goals from the previous century," Čović told Večernji List BiH edition. He added that the architects of the Dayton Peace Agreement could not have foreseen the systematic usurpation of the rights and positions of one of the three constituent peoples. "Unfortunately, that is our reality. In any case, we will not give up on correcting historical injustice and restoring our rights. We are doing this not only in the interest of the Croatian people, but also in the interest of BiH," Čović said. Čović emphasized that Croatian political representatives will never abandon the goal of ensuring legitimate representation in the Presidency of BiH. "It is tragic that the very people whose rights are deliberately and grossly violated are the only ones who fundamentally respect the Constitution of BiH. If our Bosniak colleagues did the same, today we would not have two Bosniak members of the BiH Presidency," Čović said.
