MINIĆ: GOVERNMENT’S ELECTION RESPONSIBLY PLANNED, WE REMAIN FAITHFUL TO THE DAYTON
BANJA LUKA, JANUARY 18 /SRNA/ – The prime minister - designate for the new government of Republika Srpska, Savo Minić, says the election of the new government is part of a political process that has been maturely and responsibly planned with all key political figures in Srpska, confirming political responsibility and stability.
"My message to the citizens is that we will not waste a single day, that nothing will be questioned, and we will not allow any factor to influence the destabilization of the process Republika Srpska," said Minić while presenting the work programme at a special session of the National Assembly. He emphasized that Republika Srpska has repeatedly proven to be an open and democratic society, firmly committed to peace, stability, and coexistence for all citizens, regardless of national or religious affiliation, political, ideological, or any other orientation. The new Government of Republika Srpska will remain fully committed to this course. "The new government will promote and emphasize, in line with the Dayton Peace Agreement, that Republika Srpska is a party to the Dayton Peace Agreement and a signatory to all of its annexes, as well as a party internationally recognised during the coordination of the Geneva and New York principles that preceded the Dayton negotiations. Therefore, the response from the institutions of Srpska and the future government is clear – we remain faithful to the letter of the Dayton and the defence of our constitutional positions through all democratic, legal, and political means," Minić stated. He further noted that Republika Srpska is a permanent fact, not a subject for negotiation, and without it, there is neither stability nor a future for BiH. "We are committed to restoring the original Dayton, so from this place, we once again call on the representatives of the other two constituent peoples to engage in dialogue and cooperation, as the holders of sovereignty in BiH are the constituent peoples and entities," Minić emphasized. He pointed out that the Dayton constitutional arrangement, with all its shortcomings, remains the only viable constitutional framework for the survival and functioning of BiH on the constitutionally proclaimed principles of parity and consensus. Minić highlighted that new government’s objectives are to confirm and strengthen the status of Republika Srpska in accordance with the Dayton Peace Agreement and the Constitution of BiH, to analyze and prepare the reorganisation of the Republika Srpska institutions, public enterprises, and public administration, and to review the role of the judicial institutions of Republika Srpska in protecting constitutionality and legality, both within Srpska and BiH. "The goal is to carry out foreign policy activities in coordination with the Republika Srpska institutions and the Serb BiH Presidency member in order to initiate the institutional and economic transformation of Republika Srpska into a self-sustaining, fiscally stable, and development-oriented community, with a strong reliance on domestic resources, markets, and human potential," Minić said.
