NEW GOVERNMENT WILL THWART ANY ATTEMPT FROM SARAJEVO TO JEOPARDIZE SRPSKA
BANJA LUKA, JANUARY 19 /SRNA/ - The new Government of Republika Srpska will thwart any attempt from Sarajevo to jeopardize Republika Srpska, stated Acting President of Republika Srpska Ana Trišić Babić.
Trišić Babić emphasized that the election of the new government has demonstrated the institutional strength of Republika Srpska. “The new government will thwart any attempt from Sarajevo to jeopardize Republika Srpska together with the foreign administration,” Trišić Babić told RTRS. According to her, the constant challenge for the institutions of Republika Srpska is to preserve and protect Srpska. She emphasized that the institutions of Republika Srpska react as soon as they sense even the slightest possibility that Srpska could be endangered. “That is how we reacted when we were threatened from Sarajevo with snap elections, and earlier with trials; that plan from Sarajevo, outlined together with the foreign administration. We decided once again to demonstrate the institutional strength of Republika Srpska,” Trišić Babić stated. She said she is confident that the new government, led by Prime Minister Savo Minić, will implement the very ambitious goals and plans outlined in the exposé. She emphasized that Republika Srpska has never had a better position in international relations than it does now, adding that relations with the new U.S. administration have changed following Donald Trump’s victory, and that the United States’ hard line toward Republika Srpska has softened. “Republika Srpska wants to build a partnership with the United States, and with that goal in mind, we have launched activities on both the economic and political fronts,” Trišić Babić explained. She said that, despite attempts from Sarajevo to stop it, Republika Srpska is today recognized as a factor on the international stage, regardless of its territory and population size. She emphasized that no vital decision can be made in this region without Republika Srpska. Republika Srpska, she stressed, has, over all these years, followed developments in both the immediate and wider environment and has sought to keep pace despite all obstacles coming from Sarajevo, remaining consistent with its policies and goals. “In that, we have succeeded,” Trišić Babić said. She recalled that her first meeting on economic cooperation with Republika Srpska was held with representatives of the U.S. company Bechtel, which has long been present in the region, and emphasized that those talks will continue. “The Government of Republika Srpska will form teams that will work with them to concretize specific projects,” Trišić Babić concluded.
