BUDIMIR PRAISES ISTOČNO SARAJEVO POLICE ADMINISTRATION

ISTOČNO SARAJEVO, JANUARY 21 /SRNA/ – Minister of the Interior of Republika Srpska Željko Budimir today praised the efforts undertaken by the Istočno Sarajevo Police Administration to ensure that the Sarajevo-Romanija region remains safe for all citizens.

During the visit, Budimir met with the leadership of the Istočno Sarajevo Police Administration to discuss the security situation in the area under its operational jurisdiction, as well as the activities being carried out to combat crime. Budimir expressed support for the measures being implemented in this field, the Ministry of the Interior said in a statement. Head of the Istočno Sarajevo Police Administration Branislav Šehovac said at the meeting that the crime rate in the area covered by the Administration decreased by 10.4 percent in 2025 compared to 2024, while the overall crime clearance rate stands at 91.4 percent. The number of recorded public order and peace misdemeanors has also declined, by 11.7 percent, Šehovac added. He noted, however, that the number of traffic fatalities in the area under the jurisdiction of the Istočno Sarajevo Police Administration has increased, despite intensified repressive and preventive measures taken by police officers in the field.
