MINIĆ: DEVELOP CULTURE OF REMEMBRANCE FOR THE MOST SIGNIFICANT FIGURE IN SERB HISTORY, SAINT SAVA
BANJA LUKA, FEBRUARY 2 /SRNA/ - Republika Srpska Prime Minister Savo Minić has stated today in Banja Luka that it is crucial to nurture and develop a culture of remembrance for the most significant figure in Serb history - Saint Sava.
During the scientific and professional gathering "Saint Sava and the Nomokanon - Culture, Statehood, Geopolitics and Civilization," Minić said that this year, as well as in previous years, marks the 850th anniversary of the birth of Rastko Nemanjić – Saint Sava. He noted that the organisation of this event provides a good opportunity to scientifically discuss the significance of the Saint Sava Nomokanon, the first Serb collection of secular and ecclesiastical legislation. Minić emphasized that the legacy of Saint Sava, which we inherit, must serve as an inspiration for all those who are nowadays working on forming social awareness and organising society, announced the Republika Srpska Government. "We must be aware of who we are, what we are, where we come from, and what our goal is. With this knowledge, we must work daily on the development of social consciousness," said Minić. The scientific and professional gathering "Saint Sava and the Nomokanon - Culture, Statehood, Geopolitics and Civilization " was organised by the Social-Political Research Centre in honour of the 850th anniversary of Saint Sava's birth, and gathered eminent experts from the region. The gathering conveyed the message that the Saint Sava Nomokanon is embedded in the foundations of Ser identity, serving as proof of continuity not only in the term of church but also in the term of state, law, culture, politics, and civilization.
