SELAK: BiH JUDICIARY CHARACTERIZED BY ABUSES

BANJA LUKA, FEBRUARY 4 /SRNA/ – Republika Srpska Justice Minister Goran Selak states it is evident that prolonging the trial of the wartime commander of the Fifth Corps of the so-called BiH Army Atif Dudaković for crimes against Serbs in the Krajina region is full of illogicalities, which is often characteristic of BiH judicial institutions, including the Court of BiH.

"When proceedings are conducted against Serbs, everything moves at an express pace and cases are resolved very quickly in order to eliminate certain individuals from political and public life, while cases involving persons from the FBiH last for years," Selak told the press in Banja Luka. He emphasized that Republika Srpska rightly points to abuses within the judiciary and judicial institutions of BiH. Selak stated that Republika Srpska acts responsibly and insists on the rule of law. Medical experts agree that the former commander of the Fifth Corps of the so-called Army of BiH, Atif Dudaković, is not fit to stand trial for crimes committed against the Serb people in Krajina. A team of medical experts from Tuzla presented these findings at a status conference of the Court of BiH on Monday, February 2. Dudaković sands trial for crimes committed against Serb soldiers and civilians in the areas of Bosanski Petrovac, Ključ, Bosanska Krupa, and Sanski Most. Along with him, members of the Fifth Corps Sanel Šabić, Ibrahim Šiljedić, Safet Salihagić, Adis Zjakić, Hasan Ružnić, Redžep Zlojić, Samir Solaković, Fatmir Muratović, Muharem Alešević, Husein Balagić, Edin Domazet, Ejub Koženjić, Ibrahim Nadarević, and Said Mujić are also indicted. The indictment charges them with the killing of more than 300 Serbs, mostly civilians, predominantly elderly, as well as soldiers who had surrendered or were captured.
