VRANJEŠ: HYSTERIA IN SARAJEVO BEST DEMONSTRATES THE IMPORTANCE OF SRPSKA DELEGATION’S VISIT TO AMERICA
BELGRADE, FEBRUARY 5 /SRNA/ – BiH’s Ambassador to Serbia Aleksandar Vranješ assesses that the importance and effects of Republika Srpska delegation's visit to Washington are best demonstrated by the reactions coming from Sarajevo and Srpska opposition's behaviour.
Vranješ emphasized the importance of the visit to Washington by SNSD Leader Milorad Dodik, the Serb member of the BiH Presidency Željka Cvijanović, and the Acting President of Republika Srpska, Ana Trišić-Babić, adding that this is something that "the hysteria in Sarajevo and the opposition in Srpska are trying to downplay". He told SRNA that from earlier announcements that Republika Srpska would be swept away by a bulldozer, as some in Sarajevo had wished, as well as from sanctions and various pressures, the situation has now shifted to witnessing a serious diplomatic offensive by the Republika Srpska delegation. Vranješ stated that only those malicious could attempt to dispute or portray the visit as some kind of controversial activity. "This is a highly important and strong activity by the Srpska delegation in Washington, which has shown that since the moment when the previous US administration attempted to literally suffocate Republika Srpska at every level, a major turnaround has occurred thanks to the policies of Dodik and Cvijanović," Vranješ said. He pointed out that during her stay in the United States, Cvijanović has so far met with Howard Lutnick, US Commerce Secretary and a close associate of US President Donald Trump, as well as with Republican Senator Ron Johnson, who is perhaps one of the most influential Republicans in the Senate. "She has so far met with seven very influential Republican congressmen, including young figures who represent the future of the Republican Party in Congress. A significant number of additional meetings are expected tomorrow, while today the delegation is attending the National Prayer Breakfast," Vranješ said.
