GOGANOVIĆ: COOPERATION WITHIN PARTNERSHIP FRAMEWORK ONLY, NO IMPOSITION OF DECISIONS

SARAJEVO, FEBRUARY 5 /SRNA/ – BiH is not experiencing pressure from Brussels regarding NATO membership, and cooperation with the Alliance is taking place exclusively within existing partnership mechanisms-without the imposition of political decisions, said Deputy Defense Minister in the Council of Ministers Aleksandar Goganović after the meeting with NATO Assistant Secretary General Boris Ruge.

Today, Goganović met Ruge at the Ministry of Defense and during the talks it was confirmed that no one in Brussels is insisting on BiH’s NATO membership, nor prejudging any future political decisions in BiH. He emphasized that cooperation with NATO is at a high level but clearly defined through partnership frameworks, reminding that none of the documents signed by BiH obliges it to join the Alliance, the Cabinet of the Deputy Defense Minister in the Council of Ministers announced. Goganović said that Republika Srpska remains consistent in its policy of preserving peace, stability, and security, with a clear rejection of any attempts at political imposition or pressure. During the meeting, the security situation in BiH was also discussed, with a joint conclusion that there are no security challenges that could jeopardize stability, and that peace and security in BiH are fully preserved. The meeting was also attended by Defense Minister Zukan Helez, Deputy Defense Minister from the ranks of the Croat people Slaven Galić, Commander of NATO Headquarters in BiH Brigadier General Matthew Wallace, and Director of NATO's Political Affairs Division, Ambassador Vladimir Vučinić.
